Cheadle Stingers, Cheadle Town Football Club's successful women's team, has renewed its shirt sponsorship with local businesswoman, author and podcaster Penny Dee.

The owner of DPC Clinic on Stockport Road in Cheadle and developer of luxury clinical grade skincare line SkinGoal, skin specialist Penny has supported the Stingers for the last two seasons and has renewed for a third.

Living and working locally in Cheadle, Penny and her husband Phil are both keen football fans and have enjoyed watching the Stingers go from strength to strength in the North West Women's League over the last couple of years. Both attend matchdays frequently.

Penny said: "A keen athlete in my youth, I believe strongly in encouraging more girls into sport helping them to pursue their achievements and ambitions at any level, and for these reasons we chose to sponsor the Stingers.

"We have two girls of our own who play football at school and it is wonderful to watch. They get so many crucial life skills from the game including communication, confidence, teamwork and resilience especially playing when it is cold, dark and wet in the middle of winter."

Penny adds: "The Stingers are amazing role models for our girls and along with the Lionesses, who are also flying high, I don't think there's been a better time to be involved with women's football – we certainly enjoy it!

"Over the last couple of years we have got to know the whole Stingers team, Dylan the manager, the coaches, trainers, rehab, ground staff and support staff and they are genuinely the nicest, warmest people you could wish to meet.

"Matchdays are incredible fun, exciting football for anyone of any age plus the most delicious chips and curry sauce. I'm so proud to be involved with the Stingers and know that they are destined for big things!"

Stingers manager Dylan Wimbury added: "We are grateful to Penny and Phil for their ongoing support and are pleased to have them back on board for another season. The girls are doing really well right now. Last season was record breaking, we did the cup double, winning the Manchester FA Women's Challenge Cup and the North West Women's League Cup.

"This season we are trying to go bigger and better, we are hoping to challenge for the league title and move up the women's pyramid. We are currently five unbeaten in the league and sit in second position. Support from fans, local businesses and the local community is great and only drives the team to perform even better."
