Stockport to host ‘LitFest’ literature festival for the first time
A weekend literature festival will take place in Stockport, in what will be a first for the borough.
Whilst literature festivals have taken place in Stockport before, none have been quite like this.
'LitFest' will feature talks and workshops from authors and other creatives, and will run from 10am-5pm at Stockport Central Library.
The event is free for all, covering everything from writing poetry, stories, journaling, and even illustration.
The line up of featured authors includes:
- Chris Simms
- Catherine Wimpeney
- Caroline England
- Simon Michael
- David Nolan
- Anne Worthington
- Trevor Mark Thomas
- Paul Johnson
- Jane Claire Bradley
As well as talks, the authors will be hosting stalls and offering signed copies of their works.
Introducing this debut event, Peter Ashworth, Head of Culture and Leisure said: "Litfest is a continuation of Stockport's cultural event programme as this year's Greater Manchester Town of Culture.
"After such a fantastic weekend which saw thousands of people come to the town to join in the 50 events over 25 locations there is still lots going on culturally.
"Litfest promises to be a great event in Stockport Central Library this weekend where featured authors and illustrators will share their creative secrets in a series of interactive workshops. It is a must for anyone interested in literature."
