A plumber from Offerton got plaudits from the judges in an appearance on Britain's Got Talent.

Darren Watson took to the stage for a comedy routine on the talent show, which aired on 27 April.

He fired through some jokes which had the judges in stitches - Simon Cowell in particular - and finished with four yes votes from the panel.

Some of his one liners included:

  • "I met my last girlfriend in a travel agent. I was the last resort."
  • "I've got a medical condition where I eat in my sleep. It's called insomnomnomnia."
  • "I had a meal with my mate, who is an electrician, recently. I asked if he was having a starter - he went straight for the mains."

Speaking of his appearance, Darren said: "It was great to be there. I fulfilled a lifelong dream to be on the show."

And on the subject of his material, he said: "I tell jokes that cheer people up. You never know what people are dealing with."

This is not Darren's first appearance on TV - he has also appeared on Ninja Warrior, Blind Date, The Peter Crouch Show, and a number of other TV pilots.

As a plumber, he has honed his craft by making his clients laugh, in Stockport and beyond.

He will continue to do Stockport proud in the next stages!
