Stockport County's remarkable League Two champions season has been enshrined and celebrated in Parliamentary record.

Stockport MP Navendu Mishra introduced a motion in Parliament celebrating the Hatters' success and calling on members of Parliament to congratulate the team and staff.

The motion asks: "That this House congratulates Stockport County Football Club on winning League Two and securing their first English Football League title since 1967".

The motion also commends goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe and manager Dave Challinor, as well as "the efforts of all the staff and volunteers at the club".

It concludes by "looking forward to many more years of success and prosperity at Edgeley Park".

Mr Mishra commented, "I am so honoured to represent Stockport County in the House of Commons.

"I felt that it was important to celebrate County's amazing achievements in the House of Commons Chamber, to ensure that their successes are permanently enshrined in official parliamentary records.

"As a historic team with a dedicated local fanbase, County are a huge source of pride, identity and community in Stockport, and continue to do us all proud."
