Industrial action against the government by junior doctors is set to take place at all NHS organisations, including Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Action will take place from 7am on Wednesday 20 December until 7am on Saturday 23 December, and again on Wednesday 3 January until 7am on Tuesday 9 January 2024, by junior doctors who are members of the British Medical Association (BMA).

Stockport NHSFT advises that people should continue to access the healthcare they need during the period of industrial action. The trust adds: "If you are unsure what service to use, visit 111.nhs.uk to get assessed and directed to the right place for you."

During this time, the trust is asking people to choose the most appropriate services, and to avoid Stepping Hill Hospital's Emergency Department (A&E) unless it is for a life or limb threatening emergency.

If you have an appointment scheduled for any days during the industrial action, you should please continue to attend unless told otherwise. The NHS will contact patients if an appointment needs to be rescheduled.

Further details are on the trust website HERE.
