An 18-year-old from Stockport has been charged following following the violent robbery of an e-bike.
In an incident in Gorton on 19 October, police received reports that a man had been riding his legal e-bike when he was approached by two people - these two offenders produced an angle grinder then violently stole the bike.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police were carrying out proactive patrols in the area - they responded within one minute of the report being made at 1.22pm and were quickly on the scene.
The suspects were found riding a moped and the stolen e-bike - they abandoned these vehicles after a short pursuit with police and attempted to escape on foot.
One suspect was detained and arrested after being tasered. The second suspect was located and arrested by officers a short distance away after a foot pursuit across a park field.
Two people have now been charged in connection with the incident: Mason Portlock (21/05/2008) of Olwen Crescent, Stockport has been charged with robbery and going equipped; and Luke Beale (10/07/2008) of no fixed abode has been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article.
Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
