Some deserved attention will be shone on a Stockport-based charity as part of a special feature on BBC Radio.

Stockport's Together Trust - which supports children with disabilities, autism and mental health differences - will feature in a programme on BBC Radio Five Live tomorrow (22 February) from 4-7pm.

Founded in 1870, the Together Trust is based in Cheadle, and employs more than 900 people across the North West.

The broadcast will focus on issues faced by disabled young people as they leave education.

The Trust has been heavily involved in research in this area, in collaboration with National Star, another charity.

The broadcast will feature National Star student Laith as he interviews the Children's Commissioner for England, as well as the story of a parent who has struggled to get support for their child post-16.

Together, the two charities are gathering evidence around best practices and what needs to be improved for young people and their families as they transition to adulthood.

Findings so far have suggested that a third of young people felt worried about leaving education, and that one fifth of parents and carers said they knew what was supposed to happen as their child left education.

Chief Executive of Together Trust, Mark Lee, said: "Many of the people we support face barriers to accessing the right help, and the impact of this is felt not only by them but by their families and community. In partnership with charities like National Star and others, we want to make a real contribution to solving the transition challenge and improving the experiences of young people in this area."
