A stunning new mural has been produced celebrating the Garrick Theatre.
Created by New Zealand artist Captain Kris, it's a celebration of theatre and performance - providing a fitting decoration for this venue which has been a hub of artistry in Stockport for decades.
The mural adorns the side of the Garrick, near the Spinning Top, facing northwards onto the A6.
It was brought to life through collaboration between The Garrick, Totally Stockport, and the artist Captain Kris.
It'll be visible to all kinds of drivers passing through the town.
And there's so much going on in the painting that there's bound to be something new that you notice every time you go past.
It's divided into a plethora of individual scenes, replete with colourful characters and tiny details: rope-swinging cats, a miniature Lowry painting, a Shakespearean badger, Cleopatra, and much, much more.
Artist Captain Kris is based in London, and has painted murals and street scenes around the world.
He cites comics and cartoons among his biggest artistic influences.
Speaking with ChillyFeet earlier this year about street art, Kris said there were 'loads of benefits' to painting outside.
"It's a social thing, you meet people, get to paint massive walls and it has an immediate response. There's no real barriers with it , you just put it out there and leave it."
See the new mural along Wellington Road South on the Spinning Top's northernmost wall, facing the Hat Museum.
