Stockport-based care provider Borough Care is among the best workplaces for women in the UK.

That's according to Great Place to Work UK, which describes itself as the global authority on workplace culture.

Borough Care, which runs 12 homes across Stockport and Staffordshire, was named the 49th best place to work in the country for women.

They've appeared in the list for the second year running, climbing up from their position at 85 last year.

The listing was published in the September edition of Elle magazine.

It bases its ranking largely on confidential feedback from employees, and also factors in the demographic representation of women in the business.

A spokesperson for Borough Care said it was 'incredibly exciting' to be part of the rankings.

"We're honoured to be listed alongside so many other brilliant organisations, but what makes this recognition even more special is that it is based on feedback from the people who matter most: our colleagues", they said.

Borough Care has nearby homes in Bramhall, Bredbury, Brinnington, Cale Green, Davenport, Gatley, Hazel Grove and Offerton. They also have homes in Leek and Stone.

Their aim is to provide 'the safety and sanctuary of a warm and welcoming home' for vulnerable residents, but at the same time go to great effort to make life as interesting, enjoyable and colourful for the residents as possible.

"We refuse to accept that moving into residential care means life becomes grey and dull", Borough Care says. "We are all united in our aspiration to live life in colour."
