Glass Umbrella Art, inside Stockport Market Hall, has become a favourite destination for shoppers looking for unique artwork, thoughtful gifts and creative finds with a personal touch.

Run by Chris and Kathy since 2018, the art and crafts stall showcases locally inspired artwork alongside unique creations handmade by artists and crafters from the local area and beyond.

Glass Umbrella Art is also well known for its bespoke artwork and photo restoration service. Treasured photographs can be carefully restored or transformed by Chris into personalised portraits of family, beloved pets, homes and special places.

So where did the name come from?

Chris explains: "We chose Glass Umbrella Art because 'the glass umbrella' is the nickname local people gave to Stockport Market Hall, due to its striking iron-and-glass construction and originally open sides.

"It also reflects the way we bring together artists and makers under our own umbrella."

Kathy, who runs the stall each market day, says: "The Stockport Indoor Market holds a special place in the hearts of many local people.

"There's a real community spirit here and we really appreciate the continued support customers give to us and the other traders.

"We've also seen more people discovering and enjoying Stockport and the Market. There's always more to do, of course, but the area has a great atmosphere and that's something to be proud of."

You'll find Glass Umbrella Art at the centre of the hall, between the jewellers and the traditional sweet shop. With new artwork, crafts and gifts arriving regularly, there is always something new to discover.
