What's on in Stockport this Easter weekend - Worker Bee Market, gym days, and more

There is lots to do in Stockport this weekend.

Beginning proceedings on Friday is the Outside the Box comedy night at The Garrick, with a top cast of comics to get your weekend off to the right start.

On Saturday, meanwhile, is the Worker Bee Market in Edgeley, featuring 40 local traders and makers, children's games, workshops, and even a dog show.

Also on Saturday is the open day at the Everybody Leisure Gym in Poynton, allowing you to try out new sports and activities for free.

And throughout the weekend, the Bramall Hall Easter trail will continue, a top opportunity for young ones to explore this historic building.

Outside the Box Comedy Night | The Garrick Theatre | Fri 5 April | 7pm

Outside the Box is hosting a comedy night at the Garrick on Fri 5 April, starring Tadiwa Mahlunge, Anna Thomas, El Baldiniho, and MC Andy White.

Outside the Box comedians perform in a number of clubs across the UK, with legendary names such as Stephen Merchant, Bill Bailey, Dara O'Briain, Lee Mack, Jimmy Carr, and more all having made appearances for the club. 

This is not the only comedy night at the Garrick, with dates set throughout the year. Each night features four comedians from Outside the Box, including both circuit comics and brand new talent.  

As the club states: "Not only popular for recognisable faces, Outside The Box strives to find the best circuit comics and brand new talent to each and every venue. 

"Every bill is designed specifically for each club and we're proud to be known for having a group of gigs that are not only fun for the audience but also for the comedians who perform."

Doors open at 7pm, with the event set to start at 7.45pm.

Worker Bee Market | Castle Street, Edgeley | Sat 7 April | 10.30am-2.30pm

Edgeley's Castle Street is set for another day of artisan market stalls this weekend, as the much-loved Worker Bee Markets returns for a special Easter event. 

From 10.30am–2.30pm on Saturday 6 April, the market will showcase crafts, gifts, homeware and yummy foodie treats made by 40 makers and traders. 

And in addition to the market stalls, there will also be a DJ present throughout the day, from Stockport-based Semi Tone Studios. 

There's also face-painting, an Easter Egg Trail and street toys for younger visitors.

Further still, from 11.30am–1pm, Worker Bee regular Mel Whitehead will be running a free 'Learn to Crochet' workshop for adults and over 12s. 

With the help of Mel's stellar creative skills, attendees will be able to learn the basic stitches, make a granny square and take home a free pack of goodies worth £10, so crocheting can carry on at home. Email [email protected] for a spot!

And for those with dogs and puppies, the market will feature a dog show run by Makants Greyhound Rescue Charity from 11am. 

Visitors can enter their dogs in one of a number of categories, including best-dressed, cutest puppy, and more - Best in Show will be revealed at 1.30pm.

Health and fitness event | Everybody Leisure, Poynton | Sat 6 April | 8.30am-6pm

Everybody Leisure Centre in Poynton will be hosting a free 'open day' for budding gym-goers.

The open day will run from 8.30am-6pm on 6 April, and will host a huge range of taster sessions for a variety of sports and activities; everything from fitness classes in the new and improved gym, through to yoga, pickleball and swimming technique lessons.

Those who are already members of the Everybody Gym should use the usual online booking portal. However, non-members who are looking to give the open day a try can book HERE.

Please note all gym and group fitness activities are for ages 17 and over only.

Easter Trail | Bramall Hall | Until 14 April | 11am-4.30pm

Come and enjoy the Easter holiday fun at Bramall Hall.

Come along and take our interactive bingo trail around the house.

You'll learn about Easter traditions, spot cheeky chicks hiding, take part in a craft activity and meet a giant version of one of this holidays' favourite characters!

There is also a small prize as a reward for a finishing the trail.
