There are happy and healthy times ahead for Poynton, following the unveiling of Everybody Leisure's brand new gym at Poynton Leisure Centre.

What had been a dark and outdated space for the best part of 20 years has since been transformed into a bright and airy gym, replete with all the exercise equipment one could ever need.

Visitors can train their strength, cardio, resistance and more using improved, state-of-the-art gear.

What's more, this gym prides itself on being open to anybody, irrespective of age, ability, or previous fitness.

Indeed, this gym is not a place of clanging weights and shouting, populated by the cast of Gladiators (although intense training is certainly available at the the new Poynton gym if you want it).

As Everybody spokesperson Gary Foulkes explained: "There are people of all ages - young people coming after school, others coming after work, older people coming when it's a bit quieter."

Similarly, Matt Shannon, another Everybody spokesperson, added: "It's suitable for everybody in the community; it's not a daunting gym, more of an inclusive space.

"People who are nervous about joining the gym can think of Poynton's gym as a 'first step' into their fitness journey - it is more of a chilled space, a good place to start."

This welcoming spirit in turn fosters a strong sense of friendliness and community in the gym itself.

As Gary said: "It's a community. Everybody knows somebody - you can walk into the gym and chat to someone. Whereas, the bigger centres perhaps don't have as much of that because they're bigger, busier, and so forth.

"Once people are here, they don't tend to leave and go for another gym."

He added: "The response has been massive, and really positive, because it's been a long while since we've had anything like this in Poynton."

Perhaps you're looking to get more fit in 2024, or you'd simply like to maintain an even keel with your current fitness level. In any case, whether you're looking for muscle-building, or some relaxed light exercise, the new gym at Poynton is a great place to start.

Nor do you have to be a Poynton local to benefit. Everybody Leisure has 16 other sites across the North West, and as a member you can visit any. It's particularly handy for commuters who are looking for a gym whilst on the move away from home.

And now is an excellent time to join. Not only is it a good time of year to ensure fitness resolutions for the new year really imprint; to sweeten the deal, Everybody Leisure is hosting a special Januray offer.

Register for membership before 31 January and you can claim a £0 joining fee. Find out more HERE.
