A White Lion spokesperson has confirmed that the pub will have a 'soft' opening from Friday 31 May 2024.

The historic pub, based in Stockport town centre's Underbanks, will be previewing its new look, and possibly some food and drink, as part of the opening.

Just shy of a 'grand opening', a soft open will allow the venue to try out its new services on a more phased basis.

It comes not long after the pub submitted a licence application to the council to serve food and drink at the premises, at 20-22 Great Underbank.

Nub News also understands that the pub is planning to host events in the near future. Whether it's wedding events, clubs, work parties or anything of the sort, the pub will be available to host.

The return of the White Lion will no doubt be a welcome one for many Stopfordians. The pub has existed since the 14th century, meaning it has been the site of countless parties, first dates, and many other happy memories over the years.
