Party leaders, cabinet, and committee chairs at Stockport Council announced

The party group leaders, cabinet members, and committee chairs at Stockport Council have all been announced and confirmed for 2024/25, following a meeting on Tuesday 21 May.
The party group leaders remain the same as the previous council year, that is to say:
- Cllr Mark Hunter - Liberal Democrats
- Cllr David Meller - Labour
- Cllr Matt Wynne - Edgeley Community Association
- Cllr Gary Lawson - Green
- Cllr Anna Charles-Jones - Independent Ratepayers
The council is run by the Liberal Democrat administration, which controls 31 out of 63 seats at the town hall.
Like the party group leader positions, the cabinet positions in the Lib Dem administration also remain the same - that is to say:
- Cllr Mark Hunter - Leader
- Cllr Mark Roberts - Deputy leader / climate change and environment
- Cllr Wendy Meikle - Children, families and education
- Cllr Frankie Singleton - Communities, culture and sport
- Cllr Colin MacAlister - Economy, regeneration and housing
- Cllr Jilly Julian - Finance and resources
- Cllr Keith Holloway - Health and adult social care
- Cllr Grace Baynham - Parks, highways and transport services
Furthermore, the composition of the various committees on the council has also been announced.
The committees and their chairs are:
- Adult social care and health - Cllr David Sedgwick
- Children and families - Cllr Colin Foster
- Communities and transport - Cllr Joe Barratt
- Corporate, resource management and governance - Cllr Christine Carrigan
- Economy, regeneration and climate change - Cllr Claire Vibert
- Co-ordination committee - (chair still to be appointed)

The mayor and deputy mayor for 2024/25 were also announced on Tuesday 21 May; they are Cllr Suzanne Wyatt and Cllr Kerry Waters respectively. Read more HERE.
