Police are appealing for information following two serious incidents in Woodley.
At around 12.50pm on 8 January, it is believed several men broke into a Woodley property and caused 'significant damage'.
While investigating this incident, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were also directed to a further incident at another property nearby, where a man was assaulted in his own home by two people. He suffered serious injuries, which are thankfully not believed to be life-threatening.
Four persons – aged 19, 44, 45 and 48 – have now been arrested on suspicion of assault, and remain in custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing, and GMP have encouraged anybody with extra information to come forward.
You can contact police on 101 quoting log 1557 of 08/01/26. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Detective Inspector Michael Dever, from GMP's Stockport district, said: "This shocking incident is something which will naturally be a cause for concern for local residents, I want to reassure them that we believe these incidents are isolated and do not pose a threat to the wider community.
"Two men have been injured as a result and we have now arrested four people in relation to both matters. Our officers and staff continue to investigate the circumstances and officers will be remaining in the area as this is carried out.
"I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with us, either directly or anonymously."
