Poynton residents who are struggling with the cost of living are set to benefit from a generous donation from a charity.
Volunteers from the Rapid Relief Team, a (charity made up of volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church) have delivered 20 food boxes to Poynton Community Larder.
The boxes have enough food for around 240 meals.
The Poynton Community Larder provides support to local residents who need additional help with their weekly shop, by providing food and hygiene products at a significantly reduced cost.
The Rapid Relief Team said they were 'delighted' to support the Larder. Their donation contained a wide selection of non-perishable goods, such as pasta and rice and cereal bars.
Nor is this the first time that the team has supported projects in East Cheshire and Manchester; in 2025, for example, volunteers served 500 meals over three days at Sedgley Park Police Station, following the synagogue attack.
The team also cooked and served another 500 meals to members of the public during Wilmslow and Offerton Fire Station's community open days.
A spokesperson for the Poynton Community Larder, said the boxes were 'certainly well received'. "Thanks again for the Rapid Relief Team and the local volunteers amazing generosity to the local community", they added.
Amos Wilkinson, Local Team Leader for the Rapid Relief Team UK, also said: "We were pleased to have been able to deliver 20 food boxes to Poynton Community Larder. They are a crucial community hub that do so much to support so many families in the local area. We were delighted to help them and know they will go towards helping those who need them most.
"The festive and New Year period can be a challenging time for many. Our food boxes, which were curated by our local volunteers in East Cheshire, provide non-perishable goods and special treats which we hope will make all the difference to those struggling to afford products during the holiday and New Year season.
"Together with volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church and the RRT, we are committed to supporting our local communities. This is a way in which we can make a positive difference to the lives of children and families in need within Poynton and East Cheshire."
