Popular Marple Bridge pub closes temporarily for 'significant' renovation

A popular pub in Marple Bridge has closed to undergo a four-week transformation.
The Midland in Marple Bridge closed on Sunday 26 April for a 'significant renovation' which will see the venue 'reimagined' to blend the charm of a historic country pub with a 'modern', 'elegant' look.
The pub will re-open to customers on Friday 22 May, after which guests can enjoy "an exciting range of carefully considered updates", the pub has said.
This includes a refreshed beer garden (just in time for summer), a snazzy new interior, and, excitingly, a new menu.
From Monday to Thursday, there will be a fixed price Weeknight Escape menu with two courses from £22.95 or three courses from £27.95.
Meanwhile, for those seeking lighter bites and classic flavours with a modern twist, The Midland will offer a set lunch menu Monday to Friday from 12-5pm with two courses from £21.95 and three courses from £25.95.
Guests will also be able to raise a glass or two with two-for-£16 cocktails available all day Monday to Thursday.
"The Midland has always been at the heart of the Marple Bridge community, and the refurbishment is a chance for us to give back to our guests this summer", said The Midland's general manager Gary Smythe.
"We can't wait for the people of Marple Bridge to experience the fresh look while enjoying the classic premium country pub experience with great food and excellent customer service from the whole team."
The refurbishment is being overseen by the Premium Country Pub Collection, which owns the pub.
