Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has announced that extra police resources will be deployed to target and arrest those suspected of neighbourhood offences.
The crackdown is part of a four-day initiative across the whole GMP force, and will take place throughout Stockport and Greater Manchester in November and December.
Dubbed 'Operation Acquire', the aim is "to robustly tackle neighbourhood crime and endeavour to keep our communities safe."
Chief Superintendent Ian Jones, force lead for neighbourhood crime, promised that information from local residents on suspicious activity will be acted upon.
With the crackdown, police are hoping to catch more criminals and raise awareness of how residents can help prevent crime.
Ch Supt Jones added: "We have seen huge successes in the reduction of neighbourhood crime when officers take part in Operation Acquire. We saw successes in the previous Op Acquire days of action and endeavour to continue this momentum.
"We will continue to be very visible in your community. We want you to be reassured that we are present, patrolling areas, conducting warrants and focusing offenders [sic] that are attacking you, your family and your home.
"I would also urge members of the public to promote and join a Neighbourhood watch scheme in your area by visiting www.ourwatch.org.uk to sign up. If you have any intelligence, however small you think that is, please contact us or inform Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111."
