Plans have been submitted for 134 new homes in Hazel Grove - half of which would be designated 'affordable'.

Housebuilder Bellway has announced that it has now submitted plans to Stockport Council, which outline proposals for the new estate based off Chester Road.

The development would comprise a mix of three- and four-bedroom homes for private sale; plus affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom homes, available through either low-cost rent or shared ownership.

Bellway's land director Sebastian Burrow said the proposals aim to address an 'urgent need' for new homes in Stockport.

The housebuilder has also submitted plans for another nearby development off Jacksons Lane, comprising 176 other homes.

"These two developments we are planning would make a significant contribution to reversing years of housing under-delivery", Mr Burrow added.

"The high proportion of affordable homes proposed for both sites would also make a vital difference in a district where an estimated 11 per cent of households need an affordable property."

The homes would be designed to match the character of the surrounding area.
