Stockport Council has provided an update on the progress of Marple Leisure hub, as the first stages of the project begin.
As demolition work is prepared on the existing local police station, Greater Manchester Police will be moving into Hollins House.
Further to this, some other staff will be moving out of Hollins House and into the first floor of Marple library.
It means that the public will be unable to access the library first floor from 17 June, including the public toilets.
The ground floor of the library, however, will remain operational.
The council's planning department has also confirmed and acknowledged receipt of the full plans for the building, which were submitted in March.
The scheme in its entirety would ultimately see Marple Library demolished, along with the existing police station and health clinic, to be replaced with the new community and leisure facility.
The new building will be paid for with £20 million of Levelling Up funding, granted by the UK Government.
The new community hub would have a five-lane swimming pool, a ground floor library with a small cafe, a 60-station fitness suite, shared community spaces, and the relocated Marple clinic.
Plans were informed by an extensive consultation period - details of the changes suggested by residents can be found HERE.
A Marple Civic Society spokesperson said in February: "It really felt like the previous consultation had genuinely influenced the subsequent work and that what is now being proposed more closely meets the aspirations of Marple people."
