Stockport will host some special musical guests on 9 June, as two new plaques are unveiled to celebrate the town's musical heritage.

The unveilings come as part of a 'Stockport Music Story' walking tour, and will feature special guests Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets), and Dr Peter Wadsworth, local historian and music expert.

This ticketed walking tour starts at 11.30am from Staircase House and the Strawberry Studios exhibition, and then proceeds to the first unveiling on the wall of the NatWest Bank on Great Underbank.

This first mural celebrates the legacy of Inter-City studios and its ultimate development into Strawberry Studios. Inter-City and Strawberry Studios founder Peter Tattersall himself will be present to share a few words and anecdotes.

Next, a plaque will be unveiled at the Unknown Pleasures mural at the Syndikat building, also in the Underbanks.

Here, Clint Boon will introduce Peter Hook, who will say a few words in celebration of the 45-year anniversary of this seminal album.

At 1.30pm, the tour will head to Alfredo's Social for a complimentary slice of pizza (included in the ticket price).

All profits from the tour will go to The Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal at The Christie to support research into BCAN-RAY (Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Young Women).
