A much-loved Offerton pub could be returning after having been sold to a well-established operator.

The Golden Hind, at 5 Lisburne Lane, has been sold to an operator for 'continued use' - this means in essence that it will be continuing as a pub or restaurant.

Greene King unexpectedly closed the pub in November 2023 - until that point, it had been open for 56 years.

Sharing the news of the sale on social media, Lib Dem councillor Dan Oliver said he and the other councillors on the ward were 'really pleased'.

After contacting the selling agents, Cllr Oliver said: "The update we have had is that the pub has been sold for 'continued use' and to a 'well-established operator, so will be back being a decent community asset'".

"We're chuffed to share this news with our community and we will share more details when we have them. We have been connected with the new owners to discuss site maintenance and future plans."
