New padel venue to open soon in Stockport town centre

New padel courts are opening in Stockport town centre next month.
The new courts are based at Stockport Exchange, and are expected to open in April.
Padel is a hybrid of tennis and squash - opponents face each other over a net, but the ball can be bounced off the walls.
The proposed venue is three minutes' walk from Stockport Railway Station, and would have the potential to serve thousands of customers.
They will be operated by Life Leisure, which already operates a popular padel court in nearby Houldsworth Village.
The aim is to "encourage people to get fit and healthy, meet new people and have fun in the process".
The courts will be booked via an app, and will also have racquet and equipment hire available.

The site plans, which include a new reception area made from recycled shipping containers, have been designed by Manchester-based architecture firm IF_DO. JMS Planning is submitting the application on the company's behalf.
Cllr Mark Hunter, Leader of Stockport Council, said: "We are thrilled to bring padel to Stockport Exchange and create a space that encourages people to get active and connect with others.
"This venue is a fantastic addition to Stockport Exchange, and it's great to see this space being used in such a positive way. We're proud to support projects that not only improve health and well-being but also create lasting social value and opportunities for everyone."
Ian Dixon, Head of Operations at Life Leisure, said: "It's an easy game to pick up, is great fun and provides a great opportunity to be both active connect socially with others.
"I'm excited that we've been able to bring the game to the centre of Stockport."
