Two businesses have moved into new office space in the Merseyway shopping centre.

Viaduct Care - a non-profit GP federation - and New Possible - an AI analytics firm - are the two latest businesses to move into the Merseyway Innovation Centre.

Located on the first floor of the Merseyway shopping centre, the Innovation Centre occupies 15,000 sq ft of former retail space and aims to provide 'a new home for small and growing businesses'.

It comes as part of Stockport Council's aim to regenerate the town centre, increasing footfall and activity.

Rob Kates, the centre manager, said the aim is to help local businesses 'grow and thrive', to help the high street, and 'get people into the area spending money'.

Mr Kates was optimistic about the centre, arguing: "The retail unit that was here before - it wasn't working."

Nate Harwood, founder and CEO of New Possible, said: "We'd been exploring the next steps on our business journey for some time and knew we needed a dedicated but scalable space which can expand as our business does, and which is modern, accessible, and offers great transport connections. Merseyway Innovation Centre proved to be the perfect spot."

New Possible uses artificial intelligence to help other businesses achieve high levels of engagement.

He added: "Having lived and worked in and around Stockport for the last nine years, the centre is proof that it's the best place to be for businesses like ours right now."

Cllr Colin MacAlister, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: "Merseyway Innovation Centre is already proving to be a true success story in Stockport's Economic Plan. I'm thrilled that it is now open for business welcoming occupants, assisting the sustained growth of young businesses in the area."
