A new Martin's bakery has opened in Reddish.

The new shop is located at 230 Reddish Road, on the site of the old Ainsworth's bakery.

Ainsworth's closed in October last year, to the dismay of many Reddish residents.

The new Martin's, however, aims to pick up where Ainsworths left off, stocking a similar range of fresh bread, sandwiches, pastries and more.

Martin's has 24 other shops in the Greater Manchester, with other local sites in Heaton Moor, Woodley and Romiley.

Despite being something of a Manchester icon, Martin's was in fact founded in 1922 by the Swiss confectioner Richard Martin.

Neil and Ian Martin, the fourth generation of the family, are current managing directors.
