A new shop has opened in Stockport Underbanks.

Underbank General Store opened on Wednesday 17 December on Lower Hillgate.

The owners, Lauren, Nam and their dog Paak also run the bar next door, Ōdiobā.

They did a trial opening on Tuesday 16 December to make sure there were no issues, but are now fully open to serve customers on the Underbanks.

The shop sells a variety of items, from basics to artisanal brands. Lauren said that they had the idea of opening the store when many customers at their bar were asking where to get specific brands and items.

She said that she loves the community in Stockport and is looking forward to adding to the community through their shop.

Paak the dog is the first thing you notice as you walk into the shop, and greets all the customers (in exchange for some pets).

Lauren and Nam are first-time retailers yet their experience running their bar next door provides them with great experience to run a bustling, community-orientated business.

Ōdiobā, their bar, opened last year. It is a coffee shop by day and a bar by night, with a great sound system and vinyl records being played.

Both venues are located on Lower Hillgate.
