A new card shop has opened in Stockport's Merseyway shopping centre.

It's a new branch of Cards Direct, based in the former JD unit.

It specialises in greetings cards, gifts, balloons, and other 'partyware'.

Merseyway shopping centre said the new opening was 'exciting news'.

In a statement on social media, a centre spokesperson said: "Cards Direct has opened in the old JD unit in the covered mall.

"Discover top-quality cards, gifts and party essentials, all under one roof.

"Pop in on your next visit to Merseyway shopping centre."

Cards Direct is a family-run business with 82 stores across the country, the nearest one outside Stockport being Ashton Under-Lyne.

On their website, they say they pride themselves on "outstanding customer service, quality products and above all, value for money".
