A Laugh In Stockport Comedy Club | Thread (22 Market Place) | 31 July | 7pm (doors) 7.45pm (start time)

Live stand-up comedy in the heart of Stockport! This month with:

Maff Brown is a first-class comic, a regular performer at the Comedy Store, Glee, Komedia, and any other comedy club you'd care to name. He's appeared on Mock The Week, and written for it too; he's written for Vic & Bob's Shooting Stars; he was in Jack Dee's Lead Balloon; he's twice been recommended by GQ Magazine as one of the top 10 comedians to see at the Edinburgh Fringe, and he holds a UEFA "A" Coaching License.

Chris Brooker is one of comedy's heavy-hitters, sweeping audiences along with his infectious energy and enthusiasm. Once dubbed, only half-accurately, as comedy's ginger viking, Chris has taken his brand of comedy all over the UK as well to the US and Canada. With an immensely likeable persona, there's no doubt about his ability to win over any crowd and take them along for an unforgettable comedic ride.

Lorna Gray started doing comedy because it's cheaper than therapy and she might as well invite people to laugh at her since they're doing it behind her back anyway. Using self deprecation and dark humour as a way to cover topics such as getting older, dating, being *actually* neurodivergent and being a part of the woke generation, her unique perspective on the world offers light relief in the mundane.

Rich J Wall is a resident compère at A Laugh In Stockport, surely the highlight of a comedy career that has seen him share a stage with the likes of Sarah Millican, Jon Richardson and John Bishop. An astute observer of life's absurdities, Rich adeptly weaves the everyday into hilarious anecdotes and has a keen eye for a killer punchline.

This show has two intervals and an expected finish time of 10pm.

All acts subject to change. Refunds can only be given if we cancel the show. Over 18s only. Seated venue. Please laugh responsibly.

SHORTS by NOT LONG | Stockroom | Sat 2 August | 6pm and 7.30pm (two shows)

A brand new theatre-nightlife hybrid event, in a brand new Stockport venue.

NOT LONG is an artists network, dedicated to platforming Northern talent, creating live events, and throwing parties.

For their first inaugural event, comes SHORTS by NOT LONG.

One evening, 3 short plays, 1 director, 1 repertoire cast, and one big afterparty, hosted by our friends at Bruk. It's a new alternative night out for Stockport, and a phenomenal way to champion and platform the talent the North West has to offer.

Hosted by Stockroom, Stockport's new creative and cultural space, brought to life by Stockport Council, the three short plays have been developed by the best new talent in the North. Following the performances, is the official afterparty hosted by Bruk. With DJ lineup TBA, it's the new way to go out - the new form of entertainment.

It's more than theatre; it's a party - it's an immersive experience. This is for fans of cinema and music, art and clubbing - for the generation that would never think to go to the theatre as a weekend activity. Theatre is for all of us. Let's party!

Mind Body Spirit Event | Stockport Masonic Guildhall | Sat 6- Sun 7 September

Another upcoming event in Stockport is the Mind Body Spirit event, taking place from 6-7 September.

A description for this event reads: "This event is designed to fully mesh with this genre, a great vibration, cultivated over a period of years bringing together like-minded people where you can feel at one, be at one, and just be imbued by the natural healing elements, whilst having an opportunity to try some of the many unique therapies that are featured at the event.

These enable you to support in your own self-care regimes. This is becoming increasingly important; in fact, it's never been so important as it is right now.

"So come along and join this uplifting social spiritual experience. It can very much be an educational and fun experience, too. This event endeavours to raise your spirits and lift your heart."
