Lib Dem politician Tom Morrison has started a petition to rebuild Bramhall High School.

The parliamentary candidate for Cheadle started the petition on 13 December, not long after the sudden closure of the school due to the discovery of dangerous concrete.

Cllr Morrison's petition calls on the government to "add Bramhall High School to the government's school rebuilding programme".

The majority of pupils at Bramhall High School were told to stay at home after an inspection on November 8 found reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in the building.

Since then the school has introduced a mix of face-to-face and remote learning, but it is preparing for all pupils to return in the new year in temporary facilities.

"It is unacceptable that we cannot guarantee local people a safe enviornment for their children to learn", Cllr Morrison said. "The school was built in the 60s and therefore any RAAC used in the construction of school building is potentially 30 years past its original lifespan.

"Myself and local councillors are calling on the government to immediately place Bramhall High in the School Rebuilding Programme. Every person who signs our petition will be an additional voice in calling for action and ensuring local children have the facilities they deserve to help them achieve their potential."

Anybody who is interested in signing the petition can do so HERE.
