The Labour Party has announced Kelly Fowler as its candidate for the Cheadle constituency at the upcoming general election.
A former councillor, Ms Fowler lives in Cheadle and has worked for ten years in local politics.
The Labour candidate has outlined three priorities for her campaign, those being housing, the NHS, and transport.
More specifically, Ms Fowler calls for: reduced NHS waiting lists and a new hospital in Stockport; more affordable housing in Cheadle and Bramhall; and extending the tram network to the constituency.
"It would be a privilege for me to stand as your local candidate and serve the people of Cheadle, the area I choose to call home", Ms Fowler said.
"I've spent my career working with and for people, championing the causes I am passionate about from challenging prejudice to tackling inequality."
The candidate also has the support of Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham, who said: "I'm proud to support Kelly who would be a fantastic member of parliament for Cheadle.
"I know her well because we've worked together over the years. Kelly has huge experience to bring to the job, she is a hard worker and as a local candidate - she is committed and dedicated to Cheadle."
