A new board game cafe has opened its doors in Stockport town centre.

The Dice Box offers a dream combination - a huge menu and a huge collection of board games.

It aims to be welcoming to everybody, from seasoned board gamers through to families popping in for an afternoon.

Guests pay for a table, per hour per person. During that time, they can play as many games as they like, with a wide range of food and drink options to complement.

And naturally, there is a huge range of board games to choose from - more than 500, in fact!

Visitors are welcome to pick their own, but if you're struggling to decide, the staff 'game gurus' are on hand to offer some recommendations. All staff members are board game fans and will be able to recommend the best games based on your interests.

They can also explain the rules of the games if you're unfamiliar.

A current favourite is Cash 'N Guns, a gangster-themed game which is perfect for families - it's quick to understand, has a compelling game loop, and has some fun foam gun props.

Manager Steve recalled a few instances of families of all ages pointing foam guns at one another, Reservoir Dogs style.

Board game staples such as Catan, Carcassonne, and Splendor are also on the menu.

As Steve said: "There will be a board game for you. People are surprised at how many different games there are for different interests - and for all ages."

For other board gamers, some events nights are in the pipeline - from Dungeons and Dragons through to other popular games. These will also be suitable for solo gamers coming down on their own.

Having only been open for a few weeks, Dice Box has already attracted an audience of regulars, plus a busy walk-in crowd.

There is also a selection of games which are available to buy and take home.

Further still, the cafe itself has a wide ranging menu, featuring milkshakes, hot drinks, burgers, sweet treats, and more.

The cafe employs specialist chefs and baristas to make sure your board game snacks are as good as can be.
