The Warren, a mainstay of Stockport's independent shopping scene, celebrated its five year anniversary in a party today (28 September).

This shop, based on Market Place, stocks art, jewellery, homeware, and more. And as its name implies, it is filled with nooks and crannies and replete with goodies.

Owner Karen describes the shop as a 'treasure trove'.

"Most of the items here are produced by local artists, and the stuff I buy wholesale is all sourced from small independent businesses in the UK", she says.

Speaking of the growth of the independent shopping scene in Stockport, Karen said: "When we started, there were only a few other businesses. It's so great to see the area come to life - there's loads of new businesses, new bars - it's a really nice vibe, now. People want to shop with small businesses.

"There are definitely people coming to Stockport now for the independent 'scene'. People are making a day of coming to Stockport for the small businesses rather than the town centre."

And with five years tallied, The Warren has no plans of slowing down.

For things you can't find anywhere else - from Stockport inside-jokes celebrated in a comic-book-style poster, to wholly unique homeware and jewellery - you can find The Warren at 6 Market Place.
