A Richard Madeley lookalike contest in Edgeley attracted hundreds of visitors over the weekend.

The contest took place in Alexandra Park on Sunday 17 August, having been advertised a few weeks prior with a series of anonymous posters placed around the park and Edgeley.

Although some speculated it might be a quick joke, they were proved wrong by the veritable Madeley-themed bonanza which took over Alexandra Park over the weekend.

Hundreds streamed down to the park, whether as spectators or participants.

Bagging the number one spot was Larry the pug, sporting a stylish wig and a bow tie.

There were also worthy runners up who received some Madeley-themed prizes (lucky them).

And it wasn't just Edgeley residents who enjoyed the show - the event also appeared on ITV's Granada Reports.

Richard Madeley, himself a former Granada Reports presenter, was advised to 'look away' when the canine competition winner was revealed.
