Historic train to steam through Stockport this month
A historic steam train will pass through Stockport station this month, as part of a rail tour to Kidderminster and Bridgenorth.
On 28 September, at 7.44am, 'The Mancunian' will call at Stockport and then Cheadle Hulme on its way from Manchester Piccadilly down to the south. It will be pulled by a Black 5 locomotive.
Steam fans will be able to catch sight of The Mancunian on its way from Piccadilly to Stockport, where it will pass through Heaton Chapel and over the viaduct. The train leaves Piccadilly at 7.25am, so plan to be in situ accordingly!
The train will travel through Stockport, Cheshire, and the Severn Valley on this beautifully scenic route.
The trip is being organised by The Railway Touring Company.
A spokesperson for the company said: "The Mancunian is a special train running from Manchester and Stockport to Holyhead.
"It provides an excellent opportunity for passengers from Manchester and Cheshire to experience the excitement of travelling by steam train along the picturesque North Wales Coast railway line.
"This train is to celebrate and commemorate the life of Steve Peach, a long serving and much loved member of the Bahamas Loco Society."
