Stockport will be hosting another historic steam train visit next year.
The magnificent Stratford Flyer will call at Stockport railway station on Saturday 8 March 2025, passing through some other spots in the borough along the way.
The train arrives at Stockport station around 8.45am, from Manchester. It'll be passing through Heaton Chapel, over the viaduct, through Stockport and then on to Macclesfield via Cheadle Hulme and Bramhall.
It's destined for Stratford-upon-Avon, arriving at 12.50pm.
The train will be pulled by a historic locomotive from Carnforth Steam Pool, and will follow the Trent Valley Line up to Stafford, before joining the Birmingham route via Wolverhampton, squarely through the industrial heartlands of the Midlands.

The trip is sure to be a picturesque romp through countryside and city alike. The Railway Touring Company says that the trip "promises to be an interesting and varied day out to Shakespeare country".
The train will leave Stratford-upon-Avon at 4.15pm, in line to arrive at Stockport at 8.45pm, roughly 12 hours after departure.
Standard class tickets are available for £115 per adult, with Premier and First Class options also available.
