A fundraiser for Tosca, a local cat who was allegedly attacked on Saturday 1 June, has raised over £4,500 in just two days.

Eyewitnesses reported a group attacking Tosca on Turncroft Lane. The fundraiser states: "A group of kids held him down by his collar and took turns kicking him.

"He was taken to Woodcroft veterinary hospital by a member of the public who stopped the attack."

Owner Ryan has said that Tosca remains at the vets awaiting blood results. The vet suspects Tosca may also have a broken rib.

The fundraiser was set up to cover the veterinary costs of Tosca's treatment, and has made short work of the original £100 target.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "On Saturday 1 July, Greater Manchester Police were made aware of an alleged attack on a cat which is believed to have taken place on Turncroft Lane, Stockport.

"GMP is working with the RSPCA to understand the circumstances."

Tosca is well-known around Offerton, as his friendliness and fondness for exploration takes him across the area.

He was adopted as a rescue-cat by Ryan, having already sustained injuries from being hit by a car before he was rehomed.

For the past six months, Tosca has been going on 'adventures', occasionally staying out of the family home for more than a day.

Ryan has suggested this may be how Tosca came to be attacked.

With over £4,500 raised in just two days, Ryan has said: "Thank you, because your donations have saved his life. We can't believe the response we have got."
