Emergency services called to Cheadle Hulme station following casualty on the tracks

Emergency services were called to Cheadle Hulme station yesterday evening (26 February) to rescue a person involved in a collision with a train.

British Transport Police (BTP), fire crews and paramedics attended the scene around 8.30pm to rescue the person, who was trapped beneath the train. Crews used trauma equipment to help extricate the person.

The person was freed, and taken to hospital. As yet, no details of the person's condition have been revealed.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

British Transport Police said in a statement: "We were called to Cheadle Hulme station at around 8.30pm last night (Monday) following reports of a casualty of the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person was taken to hospital. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
