Drivers have been advised to avoid the Barton Bridge area of the M60 this morning (8 April).

Greater Manchester Police have said they are attending the scene but suggested drivers 'avoid the area where possible'.

Long delays are building in an anti-clockwise direction, with traffic reaching almost as far back as Prestwich.

It has coincided with a separate incident this morning involving an overturned lorry on the M6 Southbound near Warrington.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "We are currently dealing with a police incident on the M60 at Barton Bridge.

"One lane is open and traffic is moving slowly. Delays are building and are expected to increase.

"Please avoid this area where possible."
