Tree collapses into block of flats in Heaton Moor following Storm Dave
By Alasdair Perry 7th Apr 2026
A tree in Heaton Moor has been brought down by Storm Dave, leaving a block of apartments damaged.
The tree, which stood along Heaton Moor Road, fell 'backwards' towards the apartment building, leaving the roof and windows damaged.
It collapsed during Storm Dave, which blasted the UK over the Easter weekend (4-5 April) with winds of up to 93 miles per hour in Wales, and up to 75 in England.
The pavement around the fallen tree is still accessible, while the area around the apartments has been cordoned off by Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service.
There was also disruption to public transport over the Easter weekend in Greater Manchester, with trains from Piccadilly cancelled or disrupted.
