Disley’s Lyme Park and Heatons' Men in Sheds collaborate for Easter celebrations
Much-loved local landmark Lyme Park has come together with community group Heatons Men in Sheds this Easter to create a special family trail for visitors.
The group have spent 30 hours constructing around two dozen decorations for a special easter family trail at the park, which will run until 7 April.
Thanks to their renowned woodworking skills, the park's garden will be transformed into an egg hunt for younger children, whilst older children will have the opportunity for adventurous play on Green Drive.
Families can also explore around Crow Wood, where there will be nature-themed activities.
Meghan MacGabhann, Visitor Programming Manager at Lyme, said: "We are delighted to collaborate with Heatons Men in Sheds to bring some Easter magic to Lyme as part of our family trail."
She added: "As a conservation charity dedicated to connecting more people with nature, we know the importance of increasing simple and everyday interactions with nature to enrich lives.
"We look forward to welcoming Heatons Men in Sheds to Lyme to see the joy they have created."
Founded in 2018, Heatons Men in Sheds consists of men and women both young and old who come together to support each other's mental health by working on community projects.
Some of the group's previous endeavours include repairing the dipping pond platform in Mersey Vale Park, and creating notice boards for several Churches and the Heaton Norris Community Centre.
Their most recent project involves a major collaboration with Sustainable Living in the Heatons to run a monthly Repair Café.
"We are excited to collaborate with the National Trust on this project," Secretary at Heatons Men in Sheds, Prof. Terry Hewitt, said.
"As a voluntary group, we're keen to give people a space to work together and learn new skills, while promoting the physical and mental wellbeing of the community."
He added: "We hope that the activities and decorations that we've created for Easter bring joy to families, while helping to preserve our local heritage."
The Easter Adventures at Lyme trail will run until 7 April. The trail costs normal admission plus £3 per trail.
Admission is free for National Trust members, and admittance to a trail will include a chocolate egg or a 'Free-From' chocolate egg for any visitor.
