Merseyway's pop-up Uniform Shop has been praised as a 'tremendous success' and a 'class act' after a week-long run from 10-17 August.
In its week of opening, the shop sold around 6,000 quality second-hand school uniform items, with "daily queues out of the door".
These items had been donated by families from across the borough, and were sold for as little as 50p.
The thousands of pounds' worth of proceeds were donated to Arc Centre Stockport and Chelwood Food Bank Plus.
"The success of this heartwarming project was made possible due to the overwhelming generosity of the Stockport community", a Merseyway spokesperson said.
Indeed, all of the shop's stock relied on donations from local residents. In July, Merseyway and Stockport Council issued an appeal for uniform items, set up drop-points across the borough, and local residents did not disappoint!
It's thanks to these donations that struggling families were able to get quality items for a bargain price.
Merseyway Centre Manager, Victoria Nichol said: "The success of the Uniform Shop is a testament to the incredible spirit of Stockport. Seeing so many people come together to support each other and make a difference in our community has been truly heart-warming and is a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together with a shared purpose.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved at Merseyway for the preparation and running of this pop-up store and to all those in the community for the overwhelming amount of donations."
