A fundraiser for a bench in memory of Chris Barlow has raised over £10,000 after only two days.

With a total of 423 donations thus far, it has made short work of the £750 target.

A statement on the fundraiser reads: "Our son, our brother, our uncle, our friend. We wish to for a place to sit with you, a place to talk to you, a place to drink with you and think with you.

"Rest in peace, you are gone but never forgotten."

Chris' body was discovered on Tuesday (6 June) evening, after he was reported missing in the early hours of Sunday (4 June).

Chris' family also spoke following the loss, making a statement on social media.

"We would like to sincerely and deeply thank every single friend and member of the community who helped in the search for our Chris, to every person who shared the appeal, to everyone continuing to support us at this time.

"It comforts us to know what great friends Chris had, and it is a huge testament to him."

The family have invited friends of Chris to contribute memories and stories to his Facebook page, "so that we can go back and remember him together".

Those who wish to donate to the memorial bench can do so HERE
