A small stretch of the A6 near the Interchange will be closed overnight on Wednesday / Thursday this week.

It's part of a scheme to create a new pedestrian and cycle crossing between the southern entrance to Viaduct Park and the Hatworks Museum.

The work will take place from 7pm on Wednesday 8 January, until 5am on Thursday 9 January.

During this time, the A6 will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Exchange Street and Heaton Lane.

Signed diversion routes will be in place during the closure.

The Heaton Lane bus gate will remain in operation during the closure, with southbound traffic on the A6 diverted to turn down the Travis Brow Link Road and onto King Street West.

As well as the crossing, the works will also involve widening footpaths along the A6, and the removal of the northbound bus stop outside Universal DB.
