St Ann's Hospice, based in Heald Green, has issued a call to adventure for local globetrotters.

The charity is looking to raise money for its new hospice - also in Heald Green - and seeks adventurers to help do so.

Participants will raise money by choosing one of three treks in dazzling locations across the globe - The Great Wall of China, the Sahara Desert, and the Camino de Santiago.

Treks take place at various dates in Autumn 2025. Those taking part will either pay a self-funded fee, or raise a minimum amount of sponsorship. All money raised from the treks will go towards the new hospice.

Trekkers will receive guided support throughout, and, naturally, will be able to get immersed in the local culture of whichever destination they choose.

There will also be regular meetups both before and after with others taking part in the adventure.

A St Ann's spokesperson said: "Treks are graded as challenging but achievable with training beforehand, and are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise money overseas for such a worthwhile local cause."

St Ann's, which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses, has been looking to build a new hospice in Heald Green ever since the existing one became outdated and impractical.

Located on land next to the current Heald Green hospice, the new building will house a 27-bed inpatient unit including individual en-suite rooms and access to private outdoor terraces, all surrounded by beautiful, landscaped gardens.
