Stockport County have secured promotion to League One with a confident 2-0 win over Morecambe at Edgeley Park.

Goals from Tanto and Horsfall in the first half kept the Hatters emphatically in front for the rest of the game, with chances coming throughout the second half, also.

Now with 86 points, promotion to League One is guaranteed. All that remains now is the league title…

In his post-match interview, manager Dave Challinor said he was 'super proud' of the club. He described promotion to League One as the pinnacle of his career thus far.

He emphasised, however, that things were not all over, as the Hatters set their sights on the league title.

Reflection on the season, Challinor said: "We've had injuries which has meant we missed some of our best players for significant periods of time. We've been questioned - we've [...] had a bad run of drawing four games and winning one - and now we've won five or six on the spin to put us in League One, and with an opportunity to grab the League title on Tuesday evening."

Speaking of promotion, he said: "One thing is for certain - we're going into a league next season that is littered with really good football clubs.

"It's one of the most divided leagues, because there are some enormous clubs and there are some smaller clubs."

And as for plans for the future? There is no reason why County can't aim high.

"The plan of what it will look like is bang on track - it was three years to get in the Championship", the gaffer said.

"We'd all love to do that quicker, and we'll all be really focused on trying to put things in place to allow that to happen."
