County gaffer Dave Challinor named 'manager of the year' at prestigious football awards
Stockport County manager Dave Challinor picked up a well deserved accolade this week.
On Monday 25 November, the gaffer was named 'manager of the year' at the North West Football Awards (NWFA),
Speaking to Hits Radio and BBC Radio Manchester, Challinor described the award as "a real surprise".
He added: "With the company that this award has - especially in this area of the country - it's a huge achievement for everybody at the club.
"It's further reinforcement that what we did last year was really, really special.
"Hopefully it's the first of many, but to win one is beyond what I thought it would be."
Further still, County's Fraser Horsfall also won the 'League Two player of the season' award.
Other local winners including City's Phil Foden and United's Kobbie Mainoo.
The NWFA has been described as the UK's biggest regional football awards, and aims to 'celebrate excellence both on and off the pitch".
