County's winning run continues with a 2-0 win over Colchester United at Edgeley Park.

The game got off to a controversial start, as County looked set for a penalty following a challenge on Odin Bailey. The foul, however, was not given, prompting boos from the Cheadle End.

County continued to stretch the Colchester defence throughout the first half, although their chances were 'nothing to write home about' in the words of the commentator.

At the Railway End, the hosts were threatened in the 29th minute after an attempt from Colchester's Tovide hit the crossbar.

A slight drop in County's form ensued, although the Hatters were nonetheless able to score soon after, as Kyle Wootton 'bungled' home a cross from Southam-Hales.

County soon returned to their sparkling form at the start of the first half, when substitute Callum Camps landed a volley from a Southam-Hales corner, in what was the former's first touch of the game.

A stellar performance from Hinchliffe and the County defence kept the Hatters safe for the rest of the game.

In his post-match interview, manager Dave Challinor said: "We should have had more belief in how we were going about things. Too often, too many people didn't want the ball, and then when we did get the ball, we played backwards and sides far too much.

"We could have done more. [...] We were certainly better in the second half."

Speaking of the 12-game winning run, the gaffer said: "It's an amazing achievement. My standards of [the team] are ridiculously high. I don't think we met them today, but we won.

"I've been on runs of 20-plus games unbeaten before, but to win the amount of games that we have is a brilliant, brilliant effort, especially in this division."
