A Laugh In Stockport Comedy Club | Thread (22 Market Place) | Thu 28 May | 7pm (doors) / 7.45pm (start time)

Stand-up comedy in the heart of Stockport. Join Thread in the Market Place for an evening of exhilarating live comedy.

Steve Harris has been a powerhouse of the comedy scene for over 20 years, making a huge impact in his debut season by winning the coveted North West Comedian of the Year Award. Not long after, Steve made it to the final of the prestigious BBC New Comedy Award and So you Think You're Funny Comedy Award. Steve is a regular headliner the most respected comedy clubs in the UK, and has supported Johnny Vegas, Peter Kay and Lee Evans on their UK tours. Confident, observational and lively performances have seen him perform all over the world including entertaining British Troops in Afghanistan. Steve has also appeared on our screens in movies and shows like 'Funny Cow', 'Love, Lies and Records' and 'Coronation Street.'

Paul Savage is a Midlands comic who has gigged all over the UK from the Highlands of Scotland to the very tip of Cornwall, and all over the world from Sweden to South Australia. He's recently returned from down under in fact, where he's been touring his latest show, which he describes as "Just loads of true stories of me being a dickhead."

He once impressed a girl at a gig so much she called off her engagement and stalked him for a bit, sending him naughty photos. She later moved back to Poland.

Rose Gray is an actor/comedian whose alternative, character-based comedy has made its mark on the Northern circuit and seen her collaborate with some of the UK's best comedians.

Better known as Brenda, a fearless Girl Guide leader, and one half of the double-act Nose, Rose's work can also be seen on screen, including Channel 4 Comedy and CBBC.

Danny Sutcliffe is your compère for the evening. Seen most recently on the big screen in the film 'Mr Doom: Behind The 8-Ball' – now available on all good streaming services – he's also a thoroughly lovely fella who lists standing on sheds, and flipping tables among his many anti-social hobbies.

One Yellow Eye - an evening with Leigh Radford | Serenity Booksellers (Romiley) | Fri 29 May | 6pm (doors) / 6.30pm (start time)

Leigh Radford's One Yellow Eye was one of our favourite books of 2025 and following a funfilled event at our Stockport shop last July, we're thrilled to be now bringing Leigh to Romiley for the paperback release.

Full of heartbreak, revulsion and black humour, One Yellow Eye is a deliciously dark novel that sees a scientist desperately searching for a cure to a zombie virus while also hiding a monumental secret – her undead husband!

Leigh Radford trained as a broadcast journalist. She produced and presented arts and entertainment content and documentaries for UK commercial radio, BBC Radio, Time Out, The Times and The Sun.

A former book publicist, she is a 2023 graduate of Faber Academy. She is currently developing content for film and television through her production company, Kenosha Kickers.

Be More Martyn - Foodie Friday | Market Place | Fri 29 May | 6-9pm

A description for this event reads: "We are back on Friday 29th May for our annual #bemoreMartyn special celebrating the life of Stockport's Martyn Hett.

"We'll have another record-breaking line-up of your favourite street food traders in the Market Place so you'll be spoiled for choice.

"In true Martyn style we'll be loud and proud in the Stockport Market with a DJ set from Sandra D and performances from Aria Eastwood and Alabaster Queen and her band.

"We'll also have entertainment down on Great Underbank outside The White Lion and The Underbank.

"Huge thanks to our sponsors CDL Software and Robinsons Brewery and our supporting venues Bakers Vaults, Thread, Angel Inn, The Good Rebel, Calvert's Court, The Cocked Hat, The White Lion, Alfredo's Social and The Underbank.

"We hope you can join us for Stockport's best night out."
