What would you change about public transport in Greater Manchester? Have your say
By Alasdair Perry 19th Feb 2026
Residents of Stockport and Greater Manchester are being asked for their feedback on future public transport plans.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is hosting a public consultation until 9 March, asking for residents' views on 'major' proposals which will affect buses, trams, trains, roads, walking, wheeling and cycling.
Specifically, TfGM is asking residents to respond to its Transport Strategy for 2050 and the 2027-37 transport delivery plan.
Together, both documents number almost 300 pages - however some important takeaways are as follows:
- TfGM is aiming for 50 percent of all journeys in Greater Manchester to be made using public transport or active travel (e.g walking, cycling or wheeling) by 2040.
- It is also hoped that 90 percent of peak-time morning trips into Manchester city centre to be made with the Bee Network by 2040.
- Neighbourhoods will be designed in such a way as to make walking or wheeling the most obvious choice for short trips.
- It is pledged that the Bee Network will be "one of the safest transport systems in the world", with a target of 95 percent of users saying they feel safe.
You can see the documents in full, and a summarised version, here.
Vernon Everitt, Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester, said: "We have ambitious proposals to further improve transport in every part of Greater Manchester.
"Better transport will enable sustainable economic growth, provide access to homes, jobs and education and create greater opportunity for all. We want to hear what people and businesses across Greater Manchester think about these plans.
"While we've delivered significant improvements through the Bee Network - which is bringing together buses, Metrolink trams, local trains and active travel together into one integrated network - we know there is still a huge amount to do.
"Your opinion really matters. With the consultation on the plans now entering its final weeks please share your views with us and help shape the future of transport in Greater Manchester and beyond."
The survey deadline is 11.59pm on 9 March. Give your feedback here.
