Plans for a new Caribbean bar and restaurant in Stockport's Underbanks were submitted last year.

Since then, certain aspects of the interior design have been revised, and a decision is expected soon.

Hudson Bailey UK has been revealed as the interior designer; plans are now visible in the window of the proposed location, at the former Stage Door costume shop, adjacent to SJS Smith Jewellery.

The former Stage Door shop would be converted to the 'On Dah Rocks' bar and eatery. Most changes would take place internally, with a ground floor and below-ground floor, along with a bar and kitchen.

The facade would see less wide-ranging modifications, although the front windows would change.

The determination deadline for this application is 27 March, and the consultation expiry dates are 23 February (standard) and 25 February for neighbours.

The application says: "We have proposed transforming the existing building's poor appearance and state of repair into a good quality presentable establishment to match other shops currently on Little Underbank.

"The empty space is to be transformed into a vibrant upscale Caribbean restaurant and bar to co-exist within other establishments on the street. This establishment will add value to this illustrious place."

It comes not long after the aforementioned SJS Smith Jewellery moved to the adjoining unit, bringing bespoke jewellery and silversmithing lessons to the Underbanks.

The application concludes: "The design of the proposed scheme has been meticulously crafted to align with the site's context and its immediate environment.

"The modifications intended for the building's facade are designed to harmonize with and show empathy toward the existing surroundings. Notably, the proposal is not expected to affect the local heritage assets negatively."
